Excellent. All records are gone IMO. However one man out shines everyone. Uday Chopra! Look at that entry of his.
Trailer started off well with the background music but then Aamir is reciting poetry just like Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna from RDB. It doesn’t gel here. At 31 seconds looks like Aamir has 4 ears with the hat 😉 and since Aamir is playing a negative role looks like he will be having a smirk/frown.
Lot of slow motion action/chase sequences as is standard with the Dhoom series. Abhishek seems totally out of place or miscast as he is was in Dhoom 2 or any other action movie. His scene looked like it was shot before a blue screen. Well Uday is Uday and Katrina will be doing her usual glamorous role.
It will obviously open huge and will do great at Boxoffice unless it is total crap.

Looks like a rehash of D2 all the way … replaced hrithik with aamir and added some misplaced shayari.
Looks good. But if the script is only as good as Dhoom 2, I am not interested. I mean I will watch it, but not particularly excited.

Excellent trailer – This & K3 will get bollywood a little closer to Hollywood movies. Beginning is excellent & so is the later part. Very clean visuals and brilliantly choreographed. Abhishek might be doing that scene behind a Green wall and it looks totally out of the place. Uday like always looked Uday. Overall Brilliant Trailer and I think 250-300 Cr’s on cards now.

Nothing much revealed. That voiceover sounded as if its a patriotic film. Katrina looks HOT! 23-25cr first day.
I found it a below-average trailer with just some bit-scenes added to show an action scene or two.
Katrina(Or her body-double?) was the BEST thing about this teaser trailer.
Don2 and Ek Tha Tiger had better Teaser Trailers introducing the lead character to the audience… Aamir doesn’t strike or come up with the same aura OR impact that entry scene of Shah Rukh did in Don-2 or Salman’s entry in ETT (Even Hrithik in Agneepath and Dhhom-2’s entry sequence with a super BG Score) .
Boss and Krrish-3, I feel had a better trailer wrt Dhoom-3.
The ‘Abhishek Bachchan’ scene is so badly edited/VFX’ed.
The mechanics of the Abhishek hanging on the helicopter ladder are so wrong. It doesn’t take an Einstein to notice that he is hanging on a helicopter ladder and not even a single strand of hair is fluttering.
Someone’s got to tell our directors that slo mo is outdated and adding tons of it won’t make the audiences ‘feel’ the action. It’s a cheap aesthetic effect, and overemphasis on a single shot takes out the ‘Holy Shit! that was awesome’ feeling from the action sequences.
And who is Aamir playing? A shaayar? A middleweight bodybuilder? An adrenaline junkie?
Aamir is seriously miscasted…
The dialogue delivery sucks…he is playing a con man not a freedom fighter,their has to be some wickedness…

most importantly, why is amair casted in this film when it is exaclty in the mould of the earlier two parts? if they had to cast a khan for BO, they shoudl have taken salman, he suits it most among all khans. its usless to expect but if they really wanted a authentic gymnastic actor, they shoudl have casted tiger shroff. that guy is the real deal. it could have been an ideal debut for him. he is young, unseen, has decent looks and would have done almost everything without cables

This is a decent trailer for a Dhoom movie (unless of course someone mistook the Tashan director as Christopher Nolan). This will be gulped up by the target audience and CE’s records are all under threat.
Aamir obviously is a misfit in this kind of stuff – but dont think Bollywood audience will mind that – they are used to much worse.
The problem here is the shayari which was WTF moment here … and the delivery is poor.

Tiger is awesome. Lets wait for trailer as Tiger was the trainer for aamir in D3. Here in the teaser aamir didn’t try any of it.
This would be super, super, super awesome with Hrithik and Ash … heating it up. This couple really rocked it in Dhoom -2. Katrina is a poor replacement.
And Aamir, for all the gimmicks that work big time and back slaps he receives for ghost directing, when it comes down to acting in films like this, he must do something to conceal his non-spontaneous ordinariness. If he doesn’t do that, even Uday Chopra will look interesting in front him. Aamir being an insecure, over conscious actor must know this instinctively.
Uday Chopra in this movie is a very much loved character, always getting the best oneliner everytime he appears. Pretty much the only character he would be remembered for.
The “shayari” (if one can call it that. I would say recital of some lines) here worked for me absolutely fine . (ofcourse I was avoiding commenting on this as me being an aamir fan things would be taken in a different perspective altogether ).
Here a new anti-hero is coming for first time. He is introducing himself without showing his face.
And the shayari is representing and describing the franchise more than the hero/anti-hero himself.
The word of “hum” in every sentence.
But then think of it. This, despite being an franchise, the villain here is not known to us ; Unlike say SRK of Don2 . (I agree with Serenzy comment that SRK in D2 was more effective but that’s more to do with the way we know Don in earlier part).
I think the Shayari was bad. May be Aditya Chopra wrote this one too 🙂 and it has too much of Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna’s hangover.

Sir you can like or dislike any thing because this is the beauty of freedom of opinion. If people who spent 400 cr INR on watching CE by spitting on the faces of those few intellectuals who consider it a crap, does it mean the latter ones should stop saying it a crap, I don’t think so. After this teaser, now it’s beyond an iota of doubt about the casting blunder of the lead actor, he is the worst part of this teaser, period. The best part and the only saving grace is no doubt Katrina and her visible bra lines, hope it’s just a fraction and they have much more of her to show off. 😛 Her presence will surely give it a huge weekend and then a crash is inevitable from weekdays onward. Because It’s crystal clear from their intention, the idea behind the Dhoom 3 is just to cash the previous Dhoom entries, with no story and substance but more focus on glamour quotient, a lot of skin show, some great production design, capture brilliant locales of chicago and bike chasing sequences (mostly in slo-motion), that is Dhoom 3 for you. By the way, Aamir tries hard to give vibe of a cool thief while riding the bike in the first sequence, that eventually turn into an embarrassing moment. Someone should tell him that making cartoonish faces doesn’t represent a cool theif. About his lame dialogue delivery (with lame dialogues or say ‘poetry’) at the beginning, the less we talk about it the better.

With Aamir in an over-the-top villaneous role and Tashan’s director at the helm of making, half the battle have already been lost.
That would be the case, if Akshay Kumar plays the lead part. Aamir I think knows his strengths and weaknesses. He is a very cerebral actor who knows how to play with audience minds. 😉 .There would be special build in the plot, for his character to outsmart the rest.
Though, Hrithik did it with pure hotness and his unbelievable dancing skills.

But only thing I liked here was Shayari – the first time I saw it I liked it as I felt he is introducing the whole team of Dhoom3 with those words of “Hum”.

Good promo … nothing more can expect from 1 minute teaser. It promises something different and better from last 2 series, yet retaining high on action and speed.

the first bike scene reminded me of RA.one, even the second bike scene (bike is in air) reminded me of RA.one teaser. because lighting and art work look same in that scene.
agree with @bored, that if i go with director name then i should not hope much. but since aamir choose this movie, my expectation were high(like everybody else)(this kind of thing srk cant do, like the aamir raises everybody’s expectation in such a high manner)..

SRK can’t generate excitement??? I thought Don 2 trailer was brilliant and SRK’s voiceover out of the world (except the last Ab mujhe koi naha rok sakta part in which he hammed) … It got amazing number of likes too. Its got to be my most watched trailer. But movie just fizzled out. Didn’t have the punch.
Dhoom however has Uday Chopra to save the day… and Katrnia too would shed some clothes if that helps …
@baba, was reading many stuffs abt Tiger from half an year. and he is relaly mind blowing. he trained AK on d3, and i guess he will redefine action scenes or atleast we will have some great action scene, if some good director is with him. he is coming with Hero remake(nikhil advani) so about nikhil i m not sure that he can utilize Tiger.
Just skimming through the responses online – there seems to be a sense of disappointment all around (and thats not just in Aamir fans). It seems even when Aamir chooses to do a Dhoom (a decision thats beneath his stature if one goes by his ‘key’ works), the expectations all round seem to be higher than what the franchise stands for.
This may go against it. Going by the history of Dhooms and also the current director – and chances are likely that the plex audience may not be satisfied. And the plex audience were the main takers for the previous Dhooms.
CE also looked pretty pedestrian from the promos – but SRK/Shetty took it to a level beyond with their wicked subversion of SRK’s ‘history’. I doubt D3 will offer such a layer behind its cosmetics.
Anyways, releasing on 20th (no holiday weekend and no extended week either) – this will be in the race to at least match up CE’s weekend and week one gross (if not more). Thereafter it will need more than just decent WOM to trend any better than CE (which will be much poorer trending than the previous Dhooms and no better than Don 2 trending either).
Its going to be SRK vs Aamir war and D3 vs CE at box office – dont see anything in this teaser that indicates D3 can surpass CE by a margin. Krrish 3 may do marginally better, but even that is doubtful.
I think Dhoom3 most likely can enter 100cr club.
That is a good achievement I think.
CE is way apart ofcourse.

Anyways, seems like in the next 6 months Krrish, Dhoom and Mental will join CE in the 225-235 range and the trade/media will go gaga over the new 200 cr club.
Aamir will likely have to wait till PK to get to his coveted 300 cr. Of course even 3I promos looked very pedestrians too, but this film does not have Hirani behind it to weave a magic wand. – that wand will work for PK.
Every single rohit shetty movie has had below standard trailers.
His movies have always been better than his trailers. In these slick action movies however such as the don series, dhoom and even akki’s blue, the trailers have been equal to if not better than the movie itself.
Don 1 trailer was pretentious and too dialogue heavy but was at par at how the movie turned out. Don 2 trailer was much more exciting than the end movie. Dhoom 2 movie was again an expansion of the the trailer. This wants to enforce similar thrills but they shud have brought John back if not Hrithik to make it look good. Instead we get a drunken monotonous voice reciting a shayari from fanaa’s first draft and a charlie chaplin hat!
The director here was the screenplay writer for the previous dhooms and also this one.

I’ve always maintained that Don-2’s trailer was easily one of the Best in recent times(Shah Rukh shayari entering on that boat – “Ab baaki meri kahaani hain, aa raha hoon palat ke….” was cool).
It came out on the eve of the hyped-up release of RA.One in late October and WOW-ed everyone.
Even I loved the Agneepath Trailer a lot with “Hare Ram Hare Krishna” playing in Fast-mode in the BG.
Don’t know about others but both movies were superb to watch in their respective years of release.

Where did this come up from? SRK angle I denied? He is ofcourse major reason along with Rohit shetty for its BO.
But if you tell me SRK was the first one who laughed at himself and blah blah then see Golmaal3 for mithun ridiculing himself. referencing his own career/films. Rohit is not new in that here.

i think when aamir is in some movie, expectation raises very high. with srk the expectation level is lil lower than what AK raises.
thats my point, excitement or expectation before release of teaser.

Mithun had turned himself into Z grade long back. Srk has been a A-lister on the decline – both making fun of themselves are not same (imho).
and an effective trailer does not mean a good movie nor vice versa. ghajini teaser was ok (like the d3 one here) but then the full trailer was damn good. Don 2 full trailer was not that good as the teaser. Agneepath’s full trailer was at par with the teaser.
And u cud see the effect on how each one opened.
Managed to view to this teaser again – must say the VFX is soo tacky here.
From Aamir’s facial expressions while riding the bike, it seems like a nerdy geek who cant ride a bicycle is being forced to sit on a sportsbike for the first time. Hrithik/John were so effortless here that the contrast is just glaring!
Going by what Murugadoss did to Nolan’s Memento in Ghajini, i wont be surprised if the ill-recited shayari and charlie chaplin hat is bollywood’s adaptation of a Joker-like villain from TDK!

Sonar Kella is my most fav Feluda film. It still plays in my mind – it was enigmatic. I think Aamir is good choice as Feluda. Hope Soojit doesnt mess it up. Aamir or no aamir , this is something to look forward to.

On Byomkesh Bakshi thing, as I said in earlier comments – they will have to change it a lot as the serial was very much of a narrative than the actual happenings. I am sure Dibankar will do a good job though.

I think a lot of guys are leaving out Abhishek. That’s not fair. I think one of the biggest highlights of the Dhoom franchise has been Abhishek’s dry and sarcastic sense of humour alongside Uday Chopra’s buffoonery. I genuinely feel that Abhishek has got a lot of style and he has got a very sexy swagger. He too will be one of the requisites of this film alongwith Uday Chopra.
Also, this is just the teaser, the official trailer, when it comes out might be very fast-paced and mind boggling. We just have top wait and watch. Besides, I remember when the trailer of the first Dhoom had come out way back in 2004, I remember it was attached with Hum Tum and was played before the beginning of Hum Tum and in the interval. It had really left me spellbound, my heart hammering and my eyes widened and my mouth wide open in awe. Same was the reaction of all the people present in the theatre screen at that time. That’s because it was the very first time that such action, such sound effects and such a promo had ever been seen by audiences. Hence, the expectations and anticipation from the film as well as the pre-release buzz and excitement of the film were sky high. And the rest as they say is history. Dhoom became one of the biggest hits of 2004 and started a new chapter, a new trend of shooting action in the film industry. Indeed, now that formula has become highly repetitive and predictable, but that time it was something never witnessed before.
The official trailer of Dhoom 3 will be even better than this teaser and will be greater in detail. I find the teaser of Dhoom 3 better than that of Krrish 3 which looked more like a video game in its attempt to ape Hollywood superhero films’ special effects. At least Dhoom 3’s action sequences look much more believable ‘coz they have been performed by the stars under extensive expert supervision. I am sure Dhoom 3 will start the Rs. 500 crore club in Bollywood.
It is quite possible that Aamir will be reciting sher-o-shayari many times in the movie like he did as a Dil Nawaz.

Only Kader Khan can do this. I hope he becomes active in films now (read that he is teaching Urdu ). Just wish that we/young gen gets a taste of his impeccable dialogue delivery in Urdu !!
If I was a producer of such kind of film, or a any film for that matter…which has narration (even for few mins)…I would spend millions to get Kader Khan onboard.

^^ Cant believe Aamir made such moronic claims that records set by Dhoom 3 will only be broken in 2020. His own film with Hirani will release next year. But such stories are likely to be planted by his publicist to downplay CE and promote D3. Then later on. Aamir will come on TV to say he didnt say all this … bakwaas Nautanki.

hahahahahahahahahaha………..!aamir is always like this. This statement is nothing. Many more will come before the release of D3. He needs SRK for promotions all the time and every time but then deny every thing.
On the trailer, nothing is great in it. Uday is best part of it and he will rear apart little aamir in D3 (john and hrithik were too strong in D1 and D2).

Mumbai: Bollywood actor-filmmaker Aamir Khan features in one of the most awaited films of the year, ‘Dhoom 3’, he says he is not thinking about how many records it will break.
Reacting to reports stating that he has claimed that ‘Dhoom 3’ will surpass the business of Shah Rukh Khan`s ‘Chennai Express’, Aamir said in a statement:”I am not interested in breaking records. I am an artist, and what gives me a high is to entertain my audience, to give them a good time, and to satisfy them emotionally.”
Aamir`s last release ‘Talaash’ was appreciated for his performance, but the movie couldn`t mint too much moolah. The actor believes the challenge does not lie in building numbers at the Box Office, it lies in winning the audience`s adulation.
“I want to earn the love of my audience. That is what I am thirsty for. I like to challenge myself and do work that I have not done. I like to surprise my audience. These are the things that I am interested in,” said the versatile actor, who will be seen in a negative role in ‘Dhoom 3’.
Aamir has just returned to Mumbai after month-long training schedule in Australia where he had gone to learn a special dance form.
‘Dhoom 3’,which is the third instalment of the Yash Raj Films` franchise, also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Katrina Kaif. It will release Dec 20.
