    WTF is this?

Why is Calcutta looking like China and why are the actors all Chinese?

Metal music in a movie set in the 1940’s? Its completely anachronistic coz metal music did not even exist back then.

And Bakshi … Byomkesh Bakshi seriously? Bond …. James Bond? They Can’t even come up with something original.

They are Japanese, if you listen to the dialogues in the promo earlier (its like a discussion on Walkie-talkie)

I think the Bakshi..Byomkesh Bakshi line is cool.

I didnt mind the music bit.

Bengal had been a food importer for the last decade. Calcutta was normally supplied by Burma. The British Empire had suffered a disastrous defeat at Singapore in 1942 against the Japanese military, which then proceeded to invade Burma in the same year. Burma was the world’s largest exporter of rice in the inter-war period.[19] By 1940 15% of India’s rice overall came from Burma, while in Bengal the proportion was slightly higher given the province’s proximity to Burma.[20] After the Japanese occupation of Burma in March 1942, Bengal and the other parts of India and Ceylon normally supplied by Burma had to find food elsewhere. However, there were poor crops and famine situations in Cochin, Trivandrum and Bombay on the West coast and Madras, Orissa and Bengal in the East. It fell on the few surplus Provinces, mainly the Punjab, to supply the rest of India and Ceylon.[21]

I have read about the Bengal famine before.

So the scenes in the movie are supposed to be Japanese occupied Burma coz I thought they were Calcutta as it said Calcutta in the trailer.

I have not seen the movie Sherlock Holmes but looks like they are trying to do what Guy Ritchie did with the Sherlock Holmes character.

Intriguing teaser.. One of my MOST AWAITED MOVIES of next year.

Dibakar Banerjee is a certified genius and I have been always bowled over and have completely loved his sense of cinema more over a Bharadwaj and a Kashyap right from the KKG days!

Dibakar Banerjee, Neeraj Pandey, Karan Johar and Raj-Krishna DK – Total respect and always highly look forward to their movies, big time!
