a film by nikhil advani π
Rishi was once a chocolate hero and used to get overshadowed by almost every other actor but nowadays he is getting hard hitting roles which he never used to get when he was young.
agneepath changed his fortunes. he is getting roles which amitabh used to get in last decade. The deputy to the lead actor or sometimes even the lead himself. the second most important character in the film.
soty is another end of the spectrum to an ap or D day type gangster roles.
Agree Baba. His roles are looking way more interesting than Amitabh’s now.
rishi has benefited from amitabhs hamming in last few years.there was a time when amitabh used to be lauded in any role in any film post his KBC phase in films. since 2007 his downfall as an actor began and slowly the roles that he used to get started going to other senior actors. rishi right now is the ideal option as he brings a certain freshness to the characters.
“benefited from Amitabh’s hamming in last few years”
@Baba .. Completely Disagree. Bachchan’s last was Aarakshan .. and if you get any chance to see the movie .. He brings in whole new dimension in acting .. a very subtle yet powerful. In fact it was only Amitabh’s acting which made this movie watchable. Before Aarakshan .. Rann was another example of underplaying yet impactful performance by him.
Though I agree he is not getting interesting offers now, mainly because he himself slowed down and also BO returns were low for last many movies. Also he is ageing very fast now because of health issues.
About Rishi … I agree he brings on certain freshness for 60+ characters on screen. I was fond of him even when he was young .. so as today.
Rann and Aarakshan were indeed two really good Amitabh performances.
(although as a film Aarakshan was Jack Shit)
“amitabh hamming”… dude go get a life… in which earlier films did he hammed??? did u really watch his movies or not???or you are just anti amitabh…anywaz we dont need any ppl to praise him or degrade him like you.. he was/is/will always be a superstar!!!! rishi is getting film offers which AB did decades ago…!!!! time for some serious reality check guys!!!
I’ve have made many many comments on NG as to Rishi Kapoor going past Amitabh Bachchan in terms of Acting Presence in recent years espc since 2007/08.
Agree with Sputnik and Baba.
DDC, PH, AP, NL, SOTY, LAK and HF2/CB are Good Examples and are similarly the kind of roles, Bachchan used to get appreciated for in btwn 2002-07(Aankhen, K3G, KANK, BnB, Sarkar etc.)
Rishi Kapoor has reinvented himself fabulously and “Romy Roly” in LBC is a glorius example.
Even in drab like Aurangzeb, he stands out in the Promos.
Incidentally and ironically from the same timeframe, Ranbir has been Dominating with Abhishek Bachchan falling π
With Ranbir and Rishi/Neetu coming together in BESHARAM, we cud be in for a Surprise!
But then Bachchan is Bachchan and due to dismal BO Returns and Health Reasons he is slowing down and deservingly so.
.
My mum is a Big Rishi Kapoor Fan!
Loves Dilip Sahab, SRK and Salman too.
Hates Bachchan’s and Aamir Khan π
Rishi was best part of Agneepath .. and I liked him in Do Dooni Char as well .. he felt his presence earlier last decade as well in Ye Hai Jalwa, kuch kathi kuch mithi etc .. but those movies flopped so his work went unnoticed, otherwise he acted well. Its only Agneepth last year which turn his fortune .. this is definitely best phase of Rishi career after 70β²s, though more because of image change over .. Rishi is doing what he has not done so far. But for Amitabh .. he has done almost everything imaginable and unimaginable .. its tough to find something new and refreshing for him at this point.
Besharam may turn out to be the Bunti Aur Babli moment for Ranbir – but then Ranbir is both commercially and critically more successful than what Abhishek did prior to Bunty Aur Babli …
And yes even a Bachchan fan can list out more movies where he has hammed than not – unless one has only watched the better ones or does not understand the meaning of hamming.
“And yes even a Bachchan fan can list out more movies where he has hammed than not β unless one has only watched the better ones or does not understand the meaning of hamming.”
please do give me the list of movies where he hammed i would like to watch them…if u can point out the movies..!! π
you dont even need to go to the Aags and BTHBs, i will recommend you an otherwise well made well acted film – Shootout at lokhandwala where amitabh sticks out like a sore thumb with his over theatrical hammy performance.everyone from vivek to dutt to the rest of the cast were good except him
Bachchan was still one of the Better Lead Actors in those respective years when – Rann, Paa and Aarakshan – released.
” since 2007 his downfall as an actor began ”
and
“Bachchan used to get appreciated for in btwn 2002-07”
seriously….and i thought Paa came in 2009 and Rann also in 2009
while Budha hoga tera baap came in 2011..!!
and Rishi kapoor how much he tries can’t match a PAA in all his Lifetime..!!
Rishi kapoor was still doing very good roles in Fanna 2006, Hum Tum in 2004, Tehzeeb in 2003, NL in 2007 it is just that some people notice quality when one works in Karan johar movie(AP n SOTY)…..even though they will always bash Karan movies..!!
on the TEASER of D-Day—can’t make much from the teaser will have to wait for Trailer to say anything ..!!
Kya BABA .. BHTB was movie which was watchable because of his performance only .. it was sheer his energetic performance which made audience sit through the movie .. and u know it.
You are mentioning movie(Shootout) where he hardly have much scope and role (10 minutes ?) .. and you forget how on same day another movie of him come out winner in terms of performance and BO both .. Cheeni Kum ? I still remember how Chanakya Delhi was playing both movies 2 shows daily each for 3 weeks and on 4th week they remove shootout and played Cheeni Kum for all 4 shows.
Rishi is a much better and more versatile actor than Amitabh.. PERIOD.
By the way, I really love the performance of that animated character in Paa. That was one of the best performances by any debutant.
Kind of off topic but WTF is Amitabh wearing.
Buddah Sattiyagaya hai
LOL thats bollywood fashion for you!
Really embarrassing, whats so difficult to dress normally?
Hahahahahah Sputnik
Its actually so suprising, that the biggest of the stars with all the money and time in the world end up wearing THAT!!
I mean seriously, who is their consultant π
I am sure, any 70 year old man in India, can carry off a simple (no embroidery ) tux much better than that clown of an attire
His consultant I think is Aishwarya now. π
I think Amitabh used to dress well in suits from what I remember him from award functions in the 90s. He has started dressing in velvet suits the past few years. Don’t know who is advising him or who is his dress designer/consultant.
The suit is all bling bling making him look like a pimp.
And now look at Vidya.
Vidya and Ash are live examples of how incapable Indian women are in retaining their figures post marraige …
Don’t agree with this at all. in bollywood itself u will find more inshape married women than out of shape. But yes definitely Indians fail to dress up properly at international events, they seem utterly confused.
When the MAN walk and talk .. everyone seems under awe of him ..
Probably first time in history someone speak in Hindi on stage on Cannes opening ceremony.
Cannes Press conference ..
Baz explaining why he chose Amitabh for this role .. and Amitabh explained why he prefer to say “Indian film industry” over “Bollywood” ..
o my god!
wats wrong with vidya?
however i find amitabh’s cloths very stylish. imagine a 70 years old man being bold enuff to experiment with such stuff. and i think he is carrying both the jackets very well. u cant be drab and dull for an international event.
as for amitabh’s acting, though he has hammed in many moies like agnipath, khuda gawaah, hum, lal baadshah to buddha hoga tera baap and department, it wud be foolish to compare rishi kapoor to amitabh bachchan. bachchan’s weakest performance wud be better than rishi kapoor’s best one. as an actor even comparing rishi kapoor with bachchan is a joke. there are just two commercial actors in india who can be compared with amitabh but i wont name them as it may get controversial.
