So much hype and build up for such an ordinary trailer. Did not find even a single line/scene funny. Looks like usual Rohit Shetty movie with lots of colors, jeeps and bikes flying – feel this will be more like Bol Bachchan which I did not like.
SRK looks bad in that Chuthi scene – reminded me of Jeetendra from those 80s South remakes. They have at least made him 40.
Don’t know what to make of Deepika’s accent.

My problem is that I expected comedy. But this seems to be a mix of all genres.
Anyways I have great hopes from Rohit Shetty. I liked 7 out of his 8 films. Golmaal1, All the best and Singham are memorable for me. Hoping CE to do what it is set for.
All they hype true, sputnik, but when did shetty said he is making anything else than this.
Agree it is disappointing, but this seems to be more masala, than comedy, it has serious undertones, like there is blood and anger in the face of SRK, so i will say this is SRK going the masala way!

Now it’s a strong possiblity that OUATIMA makers may delay it for 1 or 2 weeks more. I think they should postpone their project for 5-6 months and reshoot it with some other lead actor, casting Ajay will be a good decision, bcoz casting Akshay in a role of a gangster in itself is a big joke. This is the only solution for them to avoid heavy losses.

I’m not calling actors with names, I use a name for him from one of his iconic role i-e Joker, so what’s wrong in this. Many actors are famous by the characters’ names so you can also call other actors by their iconic roles/performances like DON, Mr. India etc.

I was totally disappointed to see ouatima trailer and thought what will I do this eid but now see the trailer of chennai express I am very happy I’ll go for the movie first day first show. I’ll take rest in IInd week and after that I’ll go for the movie Satyagarah. Thank u SRK, Thank u Rohit, Thank u Deepika, Thank u UTV.

akshay SIR is scared to release his movies on non holidays. All his recent movies were only non-holidays still all of them barely reached 65 crore +. This time there is no open second week. It would not gross more than khiladi 786 which was a non-holiday release, despite independence day week. And I think also akshay kumar SIR is more scared than ekta since his movies never worked when released alongside SRK’s movies.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara: Title changed!
We’ve just been informed that the title of Milan Luthria’s ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again’ has been changed to ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara’. The film will release in theatres on August 15th 2013 (Independence day release).
“Yes, the movie has been renamed as ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara’ and it will be released on Aug 15″ Girish Johar, Head of Distribution and Acquisition, Balaji Motion Pictures, confirmed.
Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara, starring Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, Imran Khan and Sonali Bendre. The film that was initially set to clash against Chennai Express, was postponed by a week to avoid the clash.
Apparently, Shahrukh Khan spoke to Jeetendra and a meeting was held between Jeetendra, UTV and Shahrukh to resolve the situation, and find a win-win situation for all.
“Keeping in mind that both weekends (Eid and Independence day) are good times for film releases, Jeetendra sir being the senior most showed the path. He took the decision to move OUATIM Dobara to 15th August. This is extremely graceful of him. UTV, Rohit and I are very happy with the decision made and we thank Jeetu sir and Balaji for the same. This should pave the way for such mature and sensible amicable understandings whenever two films release on the same day in future too,” says Shah Rukh Khan.
“My father and Shahrukh spoke and have clearly worked out what is best for both the films. Both are big and keenly awaited and should not be made to eat into each other’s business. I have huge respect for SRK and wish him the best,” says Ekta Kapoor.
Still I’m expecting 160 crore +. Trailer is also good. Hope a good start and respectable end. About akshay he is fattu and I don’t want to say anymore. Otherwise sputnik SIR can ban me.

if the voice is not dubbed (which i have huge doubts over) i think deepika is very sincere here. her accent may not be perfect tamilian but it shows good commitment from an actor. even in a normal random dialogue “kahan se khareedi aisi bakwaas dictionary”she cud hv said this normally and it wudnt hv mattered for this kind of light film but it shows sincerity of an actor.juhi played a tamil girl in hhrpk but hardly spoke in the accent, she played it safe. farhan in BMB is speaking like imran of znmd instead of a sikh! also liked the fact that she didnt need to expose in this film and she has not.
I think her voice is dubbed too. If she indeed modulated her voice then its great even if she did not get the Tamil accent right.

Did not find the trailer bad specially if compared to OUATIMA. This is atleast true to its ‘Rohit Shetty’ genre. Whereas, OUATIMA is supposed to be a gangster movie but looks like a romantic saga.
For the first time liked Dipika. SRK looks disconnected with the character.
I doubt whether CE or UOATIMA can be the answer to the ‘Ranbir threat’ from SRK or AkshYJHD crossed 150 cr and may touch 175 cr by the end of its run.
Liked the trailer. SRK is looking fresh and good, found Deepika actually funny rest is very Rohit Shettyish. Overall good !

I thought the Trailer was Strictly Below-Average.
Not a SINGLE SCENE made me go ROFL.!
Editing of the Trailer is downright Pathetic.
Deepika Padukone dominated the proceedings and Shah Rukh looked a tad bit out of place.
His ‘Ram’ Character is that typical ‘filmy’ character that has tiffs/silly arguments with Dippy’s Character all the time, to create some laughs in the 1st half but eventually falls for her and saves her from all the Goondas.
.
Having said that, Shetty Movies have never been about the Trailers anytime.
It’s always about that Popcorn Entertainment in those 2-odd hours and it worked well for me with Golmaal-1, Singham, ATB and BB.
So judging CE from the trailers would be Harsh and Silly.
Expecting some Quirky “Shetty Style” Characters and CHARTBUSTER Songs.
ps: OUATIMA Trailer was Better wrt CE.

Very well said, I totally agree with you. Whatever you have said is quite accurate as he does look out of place but the thing you missed is that he ought to look out of place as the script demanded it, because he is the only non-tamilian character in the movie. You said what you feel, though unintentionally but you hit the mark perfectly, just proves how dedicated SRK is with his work.
About the trailer, It’s one’s personal choice whether he likes/dislikes but one thing is sure, that editing is the best part of this trailer.

Saw the trailer again. I agree Deepika is damn good…liked it more this time. And her accent now sounds more Mallu to me ..”Kompazh” gaaon and other couple of pronunciations (when she tells her father is a don “periyathalai” ). She doesnt go “illai” but says “ille”. But its OK – she is fine.
I forgot to mention Kalaripayattu in my above comment though I did notice it – again Kerala. But its ok as its Rohit Shetty movie and you dont expect perfection.
I think I will enjoy this movie like I did Golmaal3. Lesser the expectations its better for the film.
Only issue I have is the train journey and fun should be more than the romantic scenes and fights shown at the end of the trailer. A hell lot of funny sequences can be created based on train journey on that route – based on languages, people, traditions etc. I would have very much liked such a movie in that mould – just a chatpati story of a train journey sans all the rona-dhona and action.
If a RJ wants to mimic Malabari’s (Malyalam/Keralites) and host a show in that accent then he/she do sound exactly the same as of Deepika in CE. It’s a comical take on Tamilians (who also sound familiar to Malabari’s) trying to speaking hindi and I am not at all disappointed with the way she delivers her dialogue.
And that “fucks” dialogue really sucks. This is a family entertainer na Mr Shetty!

Now It’s clear that Eid may also fall on Saturday (10th August) If Ramadhan will be of 30 days (that is more likely). So in that case, first two days will be like normal days. I personally think they should release it on 9th August, that looks more beneficial because If Eid lies on 9th of August, then a record-breaking day 1 be guaranteed, and If Eid lies on 10th of August then it’s like a normal 3-day weekend with a benefit of an extra holiday. Releasing on 8th might have some benefit in case of 29 days Ramadhan.

u just nailed it with baadshah comparison in baadshah his comic timing was just perfect…then with phir bhi dil hai hindustani n 12ka 4 it became little over the top…but looking at these promos n faces he is making it seems over the top is not enough to define it..!!
SRK is really pushing some barriers here, a true versatile actor of his generation. I really can’t imagine any superstar of the current crop to have such a brilliant comic timing.
After Sanjay Mishra in All The Best, this is the second time I find any actor unintentionally funny, pitching dialogues so perfectly without sacrificing the acting quality under the direction of the Rohit Shetty. This is another thing, many thought the act of the former a case of highly dosed ‘over-acting’ but for me that was one of the best comic performance in the past decade, but off-course he had a minor role that was gone totally un-noticed because the supporters of so-called ‘natural’ acting have the same tool to measure the acting abilities for any genre.
In my view, If an actor makes a rather stronger impact (either by the exaggeration of expressions or by some other techniques) without being awkward, that is a much better act than those numerous ‘natural’ acts that are being repeated by an actor in each and every movie irrespective of the genre. But It doesn’t mean you make a mockery of this Art by doing some ridiculous stuff, for e.g. Ghajini hero.
I think natural acting is suitable for scripts that have casual conversations and normal situations, whereas little exaggerations work for most commercial scripts that have dramatic situations. People with narrow understanding of this often confuse the required amount of loudness to overacting. Gajini overacting was probably required for a movie with that much drama quiotent.
i think for commercial movies a bit of exaggeration is necessary..lekin itna bhi na karo ki it looks like theatre ka acting..where everything is superexaggerated..and some of the scenes here are way too theaterish..however nothing srk tries will ever outdo duplicate..i can’t stand tht movie

Well, my gut feeling is this movie is made by SRK just for the sake of it. He told Rohit to write a movie for him just to get a hit in mass circuits. Rohit went with SRK’s word and wrote something half baked.. and directed as well ..in awe of srk. I think Rohit might fail here.
But I will be glad if proven wrong – as Golmaal3 and Singham were such a fun – especially watching with kids.

I liked Golmaal 1 and All the Best a lot. Liked last 10-15 min and bits of Golmaal 2. Liked one scene of Golmaal 3. Did not like Singham and Bol Bachchan.

Judging the negative reactions I thought SRK has tried the kind of hamming he did in Duplicate. After watching the video it I am convinced that SRK can never outdo Duplicate. Aint that bad. I never had any hope for Chennai Express. The last day videos are funny however.
