After gaining supreme popularity among the young crowd of India in 2011, the Pyaar ka Punchnama team is back again and this time only to attract at least 3 times more crowd to the theaters. The film has secured good buzz and all set for good opening across the board. Although it will face tough competition from Shaandaar from its second week onwards because even that film is attracting the similar crowd to theaters.

Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 Does Well On Day One

Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 did well on day one as it grossed around 5.50-5.75 crore nett. Pyaar Ka Punchnama had failed to collect even 1 crore nett on day one. The film does have some brand value as with no face value it has manage to surpass many opening day collections of bigger films like Bombay Velvet, Piku, Katti Batti and Jazbaa.
The film has done well in the North with Delhi / UP grossing 1.50 crore nett and East Punjab 80 Lakhs nett. The Delhi / UP collections are mainly from the Delhi side with UP cities outside Noida / Ghaziabad giving limited collections. The collections in Mumbai are bit less but that is expected as its a Delhi based film with no face value.
The film will need normal weekend trending to cross 20 crore nett in three days. A normal 20-30% increase on Saturday will see it cross the business of the first film but costs are also more than double of the first film.
Wedding Pullav was the best of the other releases but it will fail to hit the 10 lakhs nett mark.
Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 Has Good Second Day

Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 is showing solid growth on Saturday with collections set to be around 7.25 crore nett which will take its two day business to a healthy 13 crore nett. The jump in collections from Friday will be in the 25-30% which is decent growth.
The film continued its strong run in Delhi NCR and East Punjab with East Punjab going over the 1 crore nett mark which is more than what a big film like Baby did on day one and day two. The only negative for the film is Mumbai circuit. The film is not collecting in the Gujarat / Saurashtra belt which is proving to be a lag on the circuit. As the budget is not high this will not be an issue as long as the North belt sustains on Monday.
If Delhi NCR and East Punjab don’t sustain then it becomes a problem as then the film will fold quickly. Shaandaar also releases a day early and has the same target audience as Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 which will limit the audience further.

Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 held up very on Monday with collections dropping around 30% from day one. The hold in Mumbai was very good as it had been under performing over the weekend. The business of Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 over the first four days is as follows.

The film would normally land up with a 35 crore nett plus week on this trend but here the new release will come in Thursday so it depends on how it plays out on Thursday. The holiday advantage can compensate the new release factor.
