Hum was my first movie in theater by myself. The whole theater went crazy during Amitabh’s entry scene, the Jhumma Chumma song and this scene. I have never seen such an atmosphere in theater ever. People were tearing papers from notebooks and throwing them in the air.

yes the craze for that song was huge. though the song is copied from 3 different songs as we debated once 😉

I think amitabhs acting was mostly good in even the crappy films that he did in the 80s. then in the mid 90s when he made a comeback after the debacle of ABCL his acting was horrible in mrityudaata, lal badshah etc. then after kbc once again he came back to form. last film of his where i enjoyed his acting was aankhen. i think since the last 3-4 years he has been overacting a lot in almost all films

Happy B’day to the legend of Hindi cinema..!!

IMO last best movie of AB is Waqt n Paa 😀
don’t want to see him in Bhootnath returns 🙁

Agree on Waqt ank. In spite of being over-melodramatic and missing the romantic angle completely, Waqt had some intense scenes between Akshay and Amitabh that made the movie totally worth a watch.

In the last 10 years or so, I loved Amitabh in Khakee, Aankhen, Sarkar, Cheeni Kum and even in Baghban, KANK, Kaante. He was terrible in Bunty Aur Babli, Department, RGV Ki Aag and Boom.

Last good movie by him was Nishabd.

Hum was the perfect stage for Bachchan to move over to elderly/father roles. But the success of it got to him and he continued to overestimate and embarrass himself in the nineties.

It was funny the way he wud shake his head to let his hair loose before a fight scene in Hum – almost like a Shampoo ad.

Just like now is the right time for SRK to shift gears. After CE, he shud play his age in HNY and then start playing character roles – he neither has the looks nor the devoted fanbase anymore, so as to continue giving big hits in his routine stuff.

But then everyone is not Gavaskar.

      • shan 11 years ago

Well said about SRK. Would love to see him in character roles, where he isnt necessarily the romantic lead of the movie, but plays a crucial part in the story. He is a decent actor and can have a long career if he chooses to do the right roles.

Yes he shud try to get more CDI type of strong roles now – he looks good with the beard and all.

Amitabh Bachchan, Sridevi may reunite for Khuda Gawah sequel

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi are likely to unite again on screen for the sequel of their hit 1992 film Khuda Gawah.

“The script is being written for the sequel. It (film) was one of the most loved films and we thought of bringing it back. We have given a one liner brief idea to Mr Bachchan. We have got a positive feedback from him. Once the script is complete we will meet him again and approach him for this film,” producer Manoj Desai told.

“Once Mr Bachchan gives his nod for the sequel we may go and talk to Sridevi as well about the film. There will be other actors also in the film from the younger generation,” he said.

The original, produced by Desai, was about an Afghan lord caught between love and revenge.

“We are working on the script so we can’t reveal about the story line,” he said.

Shot in India and Afghanistan, Khuda Gawah was one of the biggest grossers of 1992 in both the countries.

If all goes well, the sequel might go on floors next year.

Both the stars were last seen together in Gauri Shinde’s English Vinglish.
