      Yes.

Saudaagar released in Aug 1991 (I think) so Vivek Mushran did not have a release by the time of this interview either.

Barsaat was initially being directed by Shekhar Kapur who left the movie midway and Rajkumar Santoshi finally completed it. Barsaat IMDB Trivia says ” Shekhar Kapur was the original director for the film. He had shot a few scenes in 1991 but due to disinterest he left the film. His scenes were not used. ”

Prem was also initially being directed by Shekhar Kapur who left it midway and was completed by Satish Kaushik. Prem was delayed by around 5 years.

Thnx Sputnik for the Magazine Scan……
have read many such interviews earlier also……..what i find commendable is that through all those interviews right from 1991 to 2013 he has been telling the same incidents before taking up acting and after that……no different versions in different interviews..!!

Hoping to see many such interviews of Akshay and other Stars too…..good going…..ur vintage Articles of Stars Rock..!! 😀

      You are welcome.

Even in a Akshay Interview post you don’t let go of an opportunity to take potshots at another star do you? 😉

Most of Akshay’s older interviews are about his flings and breakups with Raveena, Pooja Batra and Shilpa Shetty. This is one of his rare interviews which does not have anything about his flings.

      • ank_16n 11 years ago

        hahaha…..
nothing like that its just that i love the fact that his interviews have remain same like in 1991 he used to wake up early, don’t smoke or drink ,lots of excercise or stories before becoming star and they are still same even in 2013..!!

no actually their are many more magazine intervies from 90’s where he is talking about other things rather than rekha, sushmita, raveena…….their was an site Akshaykumar.org where i have read almost 50-60 intervies n that site had each n every Akki interview which he gave..!!

in show like jeena issi ka naam hai from 2001 he had said same things…their are many such video interviews like that..!!

their are interviews of 1996 where he was at peak n from 1999 when he was going through bad phase where also he said the same things..!! 😛

this was actually what i meant in my previous comment..!!

He has maintained a very humble man persona offscreen & you hardly see him criticizing anyone, taking potshots at his contemporaries nor you see him pretending to be a huge superstar where media is desperate for his interviews. (All the missing qualities such as arrogance, ego, nonsensical stuffs are found in bulk quantities in his fanbase)

After Ajay succeded in serious roles gaining critical acclaim, Akshay also tried to follow the suit but failed miserably. He gained success later only in comedies & has best comic timing after Govinda but didn’t capitalize on his strengths, rather took decisions without thoughts & ended up squeezing 4-5 projects in a year. He could hav turned tide to his favor but unfortunately he is still at the shore guaging wind that may help cross the ocean.

He either don’t care about the competition or can never be a competitor.

Well said FS! Akki is one of the most hard-working and disciplined actors in Bollywood. Comes across as very simple, humble and even goofy in interviews. No airs, no “tevar”, no hitting below the belt – a genuinely nice guy. His movie choices are questionable but his work ethic and dedication are spot-on.

It is hard to believe his fan base (at least here and on NG) is so arrogant, unreasonable and generally, very unlike him. I used to love Akki back in the early 90s – Mohra, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Sainik, Sabse Bada Khiladi – showcased his talents very well. Then he hit rock bottom with terrible stuff like Barood, Tarazu, Zulmi and I lost interest. He has been very good in a few films in the 2000s – Aankhen, Khakee, Special 26, Ajnabee – to name a few. I absolutely abhor him in his Singh Is Kingg, Khiladi 786 avatars. He is so much better than that trash!

I feel Somewhere down the line his manager has played a pivotal role in misguiding him in his choice of quantity over quality.

arre talking about me………..kya re mogambo kush hua..!! 😛

waise Fs if i paste some of ur tweets here i might even get banned from here as they are too humble n polite for tq..!! 😛

this Akki humbleness has made ppl(industry) take him forgranted

Blue ke major axn scenes were cut during editing to earn more money- small movie, more shows, quick money , OUATIMD is badly edited again
HF climax akki asked it wont work same way with 8X10 tasveer , Axn replayy bt he didnt put his foot down, director went their way and result is there to see

only time he put his foot down was for joker and that too late IMO… he shd have left it mid way bt knowing akki who completed meri biwi ka jawab nahi , hatya , mere jeewan saathi , police force to get more flops under his belts its not surprising at all :/

i saw sallu ka some interview recently he said the change i brought to get my films working again is i stay with the movie till i get the final edit done as per my satisfaction which srk n aamir have been doing since early or mid 2000s as per memory ..

Nice interview. The best thing about him is, he is very humble and without any ego. A thorough gentleman.

Sputnik – I have invited Nirjhar but I am not sure the email he has on NG is real one. Suprabh may know his real id.

wanted to make a “best akshay action scenes” post on his birthday but it struck me too late. anyway here is a great fight scene from main khiladi tu anari. dont miss 2:32 and 3:56.
akshay kicks and breaks a tubelight off the ceiling, no camera tricks, just pure talent. and does a perfect 180 split

Good scene. I liked Main Khiladi Tu Anari when I saw it back in 90s. Akshay as the serious cop and Saif as the funny romantic star were good. They complemented each other very well in Yeh Dillagi too.

      • Baba 11 years ago

both main khiladi tu anari and ye dillagi came in 1994. it was a great year for him . he had hits across diverse genres. He also had hits/ recoveries in Mohra, jai kishen, suhaag etc. He had some flops too but the hits made good impact. I think 1994 and 2007 are his best years.

        • ank_16n 11 years ago

Baba Akshay had 3 hits in 1994…

          2 hits in 2006 ….
          4 hits in 2007…..

          3 Hits in 2012 …..

these were his years where he overshadowed every one..!! 😛

He was going all well till 1997 after that downfall of 3-4 years happened where apart o f Jaanwar he had no success….but then again good time came from 2002 till 2008…..after that he had a fall again in 2009 n 2011..!! 😛

Akshay had some hits in the nineties playing the police inspector role – i remember back then some comparisons were being made with Amitabh in Zanjeer. But he drowned himself with poor success rate and too many flops in the nineties.

His voice modulation and acting became decent only around 2000 or so.
