National Awards used to all go to the Regional movies but this time they look like other Bollywood awards the way they have awarded so many Bollywood movies.
Haven’t watched Bahubali so can’t comment on it.
Good choices on Best Director: Sanjay Leela Bhansali (Bajirao Mastani), Best Actress: Kangana Ranaut (Tanu Weds Manu Returns), Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director: Neeraj Ghaywan (Masaan), Best Popular Film providing Wholesome Entertainment – Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Best Supporting Actress – Tanvi Azmi (Bajirao Mastani), Best Playback Singer (Female) – Monali Thakur (Moh Moh Ke Dhaage- Dum Laga Ke Haisha), Best Cinematography – Sudeep Chaterjee (Bajirao Mastani), Best Dialogues: Juhi Chaturvedi (Piku) and Himanshu Sharma (Tanu Weds Manu Returns), Best Hindi Film – Dum Lage Ke Haisha and Best Choreography – Remo D’Souza (Deewani Mastani – Bajirao Mastani).
I liked Amitabh Bachchan in Piku but I don’t think his performance deserved a National Award for Best Actor.
On Best Screenplay Writer (original) – Juhi Chaturvedi (Piku) and Himanshu Sharma (Tanu Weds Mau Returns) I think Juhi Chaturvedi deserved it for Piku but Tanu Weds Mau Returns had no real screenplay or any plot. It was only due to Kangana’s performance as Datto that the movie was watchable.
