I liked The Big Short and it had a very good screenplay but I think Room deserved the award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

That’s a surprise. Mark Rylance was very good but I thought Mark Ruffalo would win Best Supporting Actor Oscar.

Lot of directors have won twice. John Ford won two back to back for The Grapes of Wrath (1940 / 13th Academy Awards) and How Green Was My Valley (1941 / 14th Academy Awards). He has won 4 for Best Director.

Joseph L. Mankiewicz won two back to back for A Letter to Three Wives (1949 / 22nd Academy Awards) and All About Eve (1950 / 23rd Academy Awards).

List of directors with two or more Academy Awards for Best Director
