    Got 11/15 Oscar Predictions correct.

I had said this about Hugo in the movies you watched this week thread.

“Cinematography and art direction were good but the sets seemed fake at many points.”

So I had doubts that they will give it to Hugo and that’s what has happened. The first shot in Hugo was brilliant and I think they gave it because of that.

Others that I got wrong was Editing which I went to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Original Screenplay which went to Midnight in Paris.

    Great job Sputnik!

I am so happy for ‘A Separaiton’ which won the best foreign film award.. it is the movie of the year for me!

Though I am yet to see most of the Oscar nominations yet…
    Sputnik,
Can you give me a list of the must-watch movies this year according to you?

      Thanks narad.

A Separation was great and that was a well deserved win. I remember you had recommended in the weekly movies thread.

hmm The Artist obviously but it is a silent B&W movie. I myself thought I wouldn’t like a silent B&W movie but I liked it a lot. It doesn’t have a great story or anything but its good. I would recommend The Descendants too. Liked Margin Call too. Moneyball is a decent sports based movie.

    Great job..

I was never really looking forward to watch artist..silent&bw probably the last combination I would love to watch..but now I may check it. Haven’t seen half of the nominated films.liked decendants and moneyball a lot.i thought either Clooney or pitt will win best actor..will soon finish watching all the nominated films..

      Thanks.

I don’t like B&W films either and I don’t think I ever watched any silent film apart from Charlie Chaplin bits on TV. I thought it would be boring but surprisingly liked it. Liked Descendants a lot too and liked Moneyball too. George Clooney and Brad Pitt were very good too.

Cr7 – I wanted to see Clooney or Pitt win the Oscar too but Academy members will judge who deserved the most. That is the unique (specialty) of Academy Award.
