I think Aamir made it seem like its all rosy where you can file a RTI and get information. This is about a RTI activist committing suicide but it also mentions many who have been murdered.

RTI Activist Found Dead, ‘Suicide Note’ Names 50 Bigwigs

A Right to Information (RTI) activist Vilas Baravkar was found hanging in his house at Chakan today, police said.

Police claimed a suicide note was found at his residence.

The handwritten suicide note on a Rs 100 stamp paper has named around 50 bigwigs, including politicians, police officers and some government servants who are allegedly responsible for his suicide, police said.

“We are examining every possibility since Vilas Baravkar has unearthed many land scams and illegal constructions in Chakan. We will investigate all of them. We have still not registered any complaint against anyone named in the note,” investigating officer Kishore Patil said.

Several other local RTI activists like Satish Shetty, Arun Sawant, Vitthal Gite, Ramdas Ghadegaonkar, Dattatray Patil, Premnath Jha and Rajesh Bobade have been murdered in recent times.

Aamir Khan questioning Kapil Sibal, Sudhansu Trivedi (BJP) and Arvind Kejriwal on social Audits, Mohalla Sabha, Grievance Redress bill and bringing political parties under RTI. Liked Aamir’s style of questioning.

RTI Activist Chandra Mohan Sharma Found Dead In His Car In Noida

Chandra Mohan Sharma, an RTI activist who had fought against illegal encroachments, was found dead today inside his car in Noida adjoining Delhi.

Mr Sharma’s body was charred and the car was also burnt. A case of murder has been filed by the police.

His family has alleged that he was murdered; he had reportedly filed a complaint on Wednesday alleging a threat to his life and named some people. The family accused the police of not acting on that complaint.

Mr Sharma had filed an RTI, or Right To Information query on the alleged illegal takeover of temple land near his home in Greater Noida.

‘Sharma, his wife says, was always fighting for what is right. That didn’t please everyone. “His RTIs were related to encroachments on government land. He would seek information on costs for building government roads, the functioning of residents’ welfare associations, allotment of land by the government and anything he believed had a ring of corruption around it,” said Anoop Khanna, an AAP member in Noida. “He was one of the first people to join Anna Hazare and later AAP.”‘
