Happy Birthday M S Dhoni

A very happy birthday to one of the greatest captains in the world.

Dhoni has 22 Test wins, one more than Ganguly who held the record previously. To add to this record figure Dhoni also has the T20 World Cup win in 2007, ICC ODI World Cup win in 2011 , Champiosn trophy in 2013.

happy 32nd B’day to the most Selfish,Lucky but Still Quite Achievable captain of India..!!

  2. sauravjha 11 years ago

A very Happy Birthday to now Unarguably the greatest Indian captain and one of the greatest ever in the game ! Proud to have you Rockstar !!

  3. Anjanpur685Miles 11 years ago

Well greatest or not I don’t know (dont follow sports). But I know cricket has lost many ardent fans in recent years – mostly during his tenure.

    • Baba 11 years ago

most of them are sachin fans and its better for indian cricket to lose them. no individual stars in this team. They play as a team.Indian cricket has never been this dominating the world over and this fact is agreed by many cricket experts. look at the recent champions trophy performance. India was playing like the mighty aussies of 2003-2007.

    • sauravjha 11 years ago

Its unbelievable to blame loss of fans ( if any!) on Dhoni. And it will be even more unbelievable to overlook his outstanding achievements ( bestest wicketkeeper batsman this nation has ever seen, greatest captain etc ) and blame faults of others on him! You can’t control others activity certainly not in what they do in a “domestic” tournament like IPL if anything would have come up in any international assignments then your judgement(mis?) could have been considerable. It would be better if we just wish the guy even more success in future.

      • Anjanpur685Miles 11 years ago

I am not a fan of Sachin or any sportsman / neither do I hate Dhoni – for that matter have not seen a single over for more than a decade now. Neither am I blaming Dhoni. It was just my observation that I dont see same enthusiasm anymore around me in the game. I could be wrong or in a circle which is like me (though they are very younger than me anyways πŸ™‚ )

  4. ank_16n 11 years ago

” most of them are sachin fans and its better for indian
cricket to lose them. no individual stars in this team.”

    hmmm….

    can’t agree more for proof…..

IPL final where MUMBAI INDIANS won TRP was 6.9

while icc champions trophy final which india won had 2.4 TRP..!!!

    m.timesofindia.com/entertainment/tv/ICC-Champions-Trophy-registered-low-TRPs/articleshow/20941137.cms

what’s really surprising is —-if what u are saying is true then out of total % of indians who watch cricket in india 70% seems to be sachin fans ..!! πŸ˜‰

    what say baba???

    • Baba 11 years ago

thats the sad truth ank πŸ˜‰ but its for the better. fandom is bad for health, bad for cricket

    • sauravjha 11 years ago

If I may come in here, the main reason for low TRP was that it was a rain hit encounter and a badly one at that! Match continued till 2 AM also started at 11 when most the people thought it will be a washout. Regarding IPL finale people knew Sachin won’t be playing in the final way before! So final’s TRP can’t be attributed alone to Sachin. Also no matter what we are discussing a national glory shouldn’t be equated with something which people don’t even take seriously ( I do! ).

HappY birthday To Great Captain willn’t greatest as we know he never stand infront of Saurav Ganguly who Teach India team how to win Overseas and how to answerd Slagging of Australian ,english african etc Cricketers ! And about dhoni They’ve got already purified team of that , so only his luck work for team india !

    • Baba 11 years ago

“They’ve got already purified team of that”

yes how purified was the team of wc 2007 – the most embarrassing moment in Indian cricket history. just hear what the commentators are saying

      https://youtu.be/s_WBSNxPR3I?t=7m30s

    • sauravjha 11 years ago

Well nothing compares to “pure” form of Sachin, Laxman, Dravid, Sehwag, Zaheer, Harbhajan at their absolute peak when Ganguly captained does it? Whereas Dhoni on the other hand didn’t have a strike bowler(in form) for almost last 1.5 yrs till Bhuvi emerged Sehwag at his worst, Sachin in his twilight, Zaheer almost finished, Harbhajan done and dusted etc Still team is at Number 1 position in odis with second best being almost 10 points behind! So that I feel should explain who got “purified” team.

  6. ank_16n 11 years ago

    baba

    well i m myself a sachin fanatic btw..!! πŸ˜€

but still watch cricket match but not every match in which india is but some selective and big matches……having said it helps when my 2nd fav after sachin VIRAT KHOLI is going great guns…..

i have no problem with dhoni he is very good captain and great ODI player but have to say he is selfish some times which prevent me from being his fan..!! πŸ˜‰

    or
may be u can say i somewhat likes aggressive players n captains…….

SAURAV GANGULY all the way best bcoz he was more successful OVERSEAS..!! πŸ™‚

the only non-aggressive sportsman i like is ROGER THE GREAT FEDRER..!!

    • Baba 11 years ago

a sachin fanatic shudnt complain of selfishness to begin with πŸ˜‰

      • ank_16n 11 years ago

hahaha….i knew that was coming from u ……then here is reply selfishness which help team is better than selfishness which lands team in trouble which is sometimes case with dhoni..!! πŸ˜€

        • Baba 11 years ago

“.i knew that was coming from u” and still you made the comment πŸ˜›

selfishness which help team is the virtue of dhoni , not sachin who used to slow down after reaching 90 and get out just after every 100 landing team india in trouble

          • ank_16n 11 years ago

ok….point taken if u can prove that in all his 49 ODI 100’s how many times other players have also scored 70 runs or above..!!

            or

is it that u thought playing slowly in Test matches and scoring 51 centuries make one selfish..?? πŸ˜€

          • Baba 11 years ago

i have a much more interesting facts for you.i challenge you to find a fault in this

            https://feverbaba.blogspot.in/2011/08/tendulkars-failure-on-big-occasions.html

          • ank_16n 11 years ago

i have read that post when it was posted by u baba…….i can’t find a fault in that post but that doen’t mean i m wrong..!!

now since u have listed all big matches i.e finals of almost all tournaments—– can u tell me who was highest run scorer in all these tournaments or how many times sachin made 70+ runs in these tournament(all matches) in which india won?????

just calculate it and u will get ur answer..!! πŸ™‚

failing in a final doesn’t mean he is selfish or can’t score but remember india reached that big match occasion(the so called final) bcoz sachin scored in league matches..!!

just bcoz sachin didn’t scored in 2003 wc final it doesn’t count out the fact that india reached 2003 wc final bcoz of sachin mainly..!!

            or

just bcoz dhoni scored 90 odd run in 2011 wc final doesn’t count out the fact that yuvraj singh was the reason behind india reaching the final..!! πŸ˜›

            #justThinkAboutIt

its not about who scored the winning run in a match its more about who brought the team close to that winning run πŸ˜‰

          • ank_16n 11 years ago

            BABA

the Biggest Selfish man in Indian Team ever is back in Team as India reaches Final…!!

if he can play the Final why can’t he go to Zimbabwe for ODI’s..????

simle bcoz he is the most selfish man…….and fake injury for selfishness..!!

          • Baba 11 years ago

both the ongoign and the zimbabwe series are a waste of time , moeny and energy. indian team should have taken a break after their brilliant outing in CT. they have been playing constantly with no breaks since long time.

          • ank_16n 11 years ago

            hmnm…..

but what it has to do with dhoni faking injury and then suddenly playing final while refusing to play next series…????

          • Baba 11 years ago

how do you know he was faking injuries? i can pinpoint 100 occasions where sachin backed out from crucial game saying he needs “rest”. how can anyone be that selfish and audacious? these are assumptions which anyone can make to suit their agenda

          • ank_16n 11 years ago

did u ever saw sachin or any other indian player backing out of a current series and next series due to injury….but coming back to play a match just bcoz team entered final..????

          • Baba 11 years ago

i dont think you are making any sense. you seriously think a dhoni will fake injury with fear to avoid matches with such poor teams in such an inconsequential series? and then he will suddenly be back, out of fear, only to be a part of a final of such series?i think too much nonsensical debate on ng has demented your thought process.you are cooking up possibilities and attaching your own silly reasons to them πŸ˜‰

          • ank_16n 11 years ago

point here is not whether i m making sense or not…..point here is that dhoni is a great ODI player n captain but also a selfish player.
whether u find sense in it or not doesn’t change the fact..!!

on the NG thing when u have danish as a fellow member u just can’t discuss sense πŸ˜€

        • sauravjha 11 years ago

He came in because he knows he was fit. He came in because he knew he will be needed in final. He came in because he can win the final on his own. If that’s selfish then so be it! What I call selfishness is continuing in a format where you have already fulfilled your “dream” for no reason but to complete his 100th Hundred!!! Can you give me one good reason why he chose to play in “that” Asia Cup after skipping so many before that? Will wait for your answer!

PS: Did you see any of the game? Cos even in the final he wasn’t running at his absolute best! Now they clearly showed Dhoni getting fitter in every game especially the one before final where Kohli said at toss that Dhoni will play in final if we get there!!! Also be sure about it had Vijay/Karthik scored runs heavily he would have not come back. Also the way Kohli captained vs SL before final clearly showed that Dhoni was the leader behind the scene. Proof? Watch Kohli signal to dressing room after getting Jayawardena out he was gesturing at Dhoni! Anyways as you said “whether u find sense in it or not doesn’t change the fact..!!” I rest my case here. Reply if you can will be waiting! Thanks.

          • ank_16n 11 years ago

ok…..here is the reply if u want answer mention the player clearly(Name)…
that player might be my Fav. but that doesn’t mean u will bring him in conversation without any purpose and i will get provoked πŸ˜€

u think ‘that player’ is selfish then its ok with me but when i say Dhoni is selfish then why its not ok with u???

“What I call selfishness is continuing in a format where you have already fulfilled your β€œdream” for no reason but to complete his 100th Hundred!!! Can you give me one good reason why he chose to play in β€œthat” Asia Cup after skipping so many before that?”

just one thing Dhoni in 2011 said he will retire from ODI or Tests around December 2013….so lets wait and watch u will get ur answer..!! πŸ˜‰

        • sauravjha 11 years ago

Chalo great if you didn’t get the name of that player by “100th hundred” then I don’t know whom to blame here u me or “that achievement” ! And seriously i “provoked” u? Go through the comments here and see whos going on about what! It was meant to wish someone not to name him selfish under the blanket of “oh he’s a gr8 odi player but he’s selfish” !! I clearly asked u a question and its visible here that u dont have an answer for that, and even for that u r depending on Dhoni to answer me πŸ˜€ !! Chalo got it. Oh yes one point yes i have problem with those who r jealous of success of Dhoni and name him selfish whereas truth is they have been the biggest fan of either minnow basher(ganguly) or hungry for records (tendulkar) ! There I named it for those who still hadn’t got what i was on about πŸ™‚ Got your answer and now “anxiously” waiting for Dhoni to answer me !! Thanks πŸ™‚

Happy Birthday Dhoni, the best captain / wicket-keeper-batsman of India.

In the ongoing series Dhoni was out of the tournament due to injury and we can see India struggling to reach final. I am not attributing entire teams success to Dhoni, but the guy makes difference in the attitude of players. Calm, very composed but still aggressive, those are his traits, the traits which we can associate with success.

    • ank_16n 11 years ago

“In the ongoing series Dhoni was out of the tournament due to injury and we can see India struggling to reach final”

Wasim Akram to marry Australian Shaniera Thompson

Wasim Akram has got engaged to a former public relations consultant from Melbourne after proposing her on his knee.

The 47-year-old cricketer proposed to Shaniera Thompson, 30, from Brighton, in their lounge room, the Herald Sun reported.

Thompson, who has converted to Islam, will now call Pakistan her home.

She asserted that it was the romantic moment of her life, as it was so genuine; she further explained that the legendary bowler had asked her about her dream proposal and she had told him that she would like it to be at a private place.

Akram, whose first wife Huma died in 2009, said that he had never thought about a second marriage but is happy to have found love again after meeting Thompson in 2011.

The selfish Dhoni plays himself in the final so that Kohli does not get any credit for the cup win and single handedly wins the final in the final over πŸ˜‰

    Cricinfo Final over commentary.

“What manic hitting this is! He just needed three balls, just three. 6, 4, 6 and Sri Lanka watched that in horror and shock! The whole Indian team runs down the pitch, they know it’s not a surprise, they have seen this man do this so many times..He was struggling to run throughout his innings and had India lost, the whole logic of him playing himself in the final while not being fit would have been questioned. He chose to give Vinay strike throughout those tricky overs, a decision that almost ended India’s challenge. But.. like always, he has found a way to display more heroics. What a legend!

Anand: “Indeed a No 11’s day. Ishant’s achievement. He stayed not out hence the victory!”

Awais: “One of the setbacks of so many India vs Sri Lanka matches is that they have become so predictable in all situations. Just tuned on the tv in the last over and I said to my brother sitting next to me “Dhoni will finish it in 3 balls.” Though he finished in 4.”

Hemant: “What an unbelievable day of cricket we’ve had today!! First Agar’s superb knock and now this match!”

DaGameChanger: “Dhoni is probably best cricketer since Gary sobers or better captain than Imran Khan and I have watched cricket since 28 years.”

Apurba: “I remember a comment someone made during the Srilanka Innings that, Dhoni is doing a poor joob today as a captain and the wicketkeeper, but will he be the savior with the bat? Prophetic!”

Mazher Arshad: “21 runs (Dhoni and Ishant)- India’s highest 10th wicket partnership in successful run chase. Previous best, 12 runs between Umesh Yadav and Varun Aaron against WI at Cuttack 2011.”

    49.4

Eranga to Dhoni, SIX, five needed! Dhoni does it again! Is there anything he can’t do! He slaps the length delivery over extra cover for another six! India take the title with one wicket

    49.3

Eranga to Dhoni, FOUR, and now he finds a boundary over point! Dhoni is awake, he was not sleeping, he was waiting for his moment. Length delivery, he opens the face of the bat as he goes after it, slices it over point…

    49.2

Eranga to Dhoni, SIX, that has gone out of the ground! It was wide and full and in Dhoni’s arc! He has sent this straight over the bowler’s head and it hits the top of the roof… What a hit! Another couple and it’s game over.. A wicket, and it’s game over too

    49.1

Eranga to Dhoni, no run, fuller delivery wide outside off, Dhoni swings his bat but he is nowhere near the ball..

15 to get off the last over, Dhoni orders a new bat now. Rayudu and Vijay have brought a whole stack.. ”

Yesterday knock again proves that Dhoni is the bestest finisher the game has ever seen ! It would be now naive to compare him to other captains of India (minnow bashers!) He’s the best ever when it comes to chasing and perhaps one of the greatest ever in ODI’s. Keep going Mahi keep smashing oppositions, win trophies and makes jealous people even more jealous πŸ™‚

Once dhoni was asked about his good luck in cricket…The iceman of cricket replied straightforward “only team india is getting benefit of that.,.”
hating or not liking dhoni is just most foolish thing..i am a huge fan of SRT coz of his conventional and stylish cricketing shots. ..but MSD is a rockstar, he plays to win ..not to show hinshelf..Dhoni is the best finisher in the world cricket and without any doubt best captain of the team india..

    • sputnik 10 years ago

Great victory with almost 7 overs to spare.

But its not right to compare with the WC 2003 final. First of all it was a World Cup final and Australia were the World Champions back then not the team that it is now. 359 was a record score to chase and 400 has been chased since then and Twenty20 had not arrived so it was considered an almost impossible task. Anyways India had lost the match after the first innings itself. Even before trying to win the game on the field they had lost it in their mind.

      • Baba 10 years ago

yes agreed with your last line, it was ok to have lost the match and i know the australian team of that time was legendary but the attitude of sachin, ganguly and some others were not right. they seemed to have given up even before the chase, they were throwing their wickets.only sehwag and dravid batted sensibly in the match. what i like about this new team is they dont try to be heroes. they batted slowly in the first ten overs and hit only the poor balls for runs.if you have wickets in hand you can chase any total.

        • hithere 10 years ago

Agreed. There was no planning to tackle big score. Only planning was lets see if Tendulkar clicks or not.

MS Dhoni becomes India’s highest scoring ODI captain

MS Dhoni’s 65 runs may have failed to avoid his team’s embarrassing defeat against South Africa in the first ODI on Thursday, but his fighting knock earned him a place in record book as the highest scoring captain of India in ODIs.

The skipper reached 5278 runs in his 152nd ODI, leaving behind former captain Mohammad Azharuddin’s tally of 5239 in 174 matches. Dhoni’s average of 58.64 is also way ahead from Azhar’s average of 39.39 as skipper.

Dhoni is the third player to amass 5000 runs as captain for India in ODIs – the other two being Azharuddin and Sourav Ganguly (5082). He also is the quickest to this feat, having taken 127 innings as against 136 by Ganguly and 151 by Azharuddin.

virat scored 100 while chasing two days back. here’s an eye opener for the stupor sachin fans from wiki:

Virat Kohli also holds the record for the fastest century by an Indian batsman.[4] Virat became the fastest to 17 hundreds in ODI by any batsman[5] and he became the fourth batsman in ODIs after Sourav Ganguly (1997-2000), Sachin Tendulkar (1996-98) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (2007–09) to hit 1000 or more ODI runs in three or more consecutive calendar years.[5] He also holds the record for most centuries in chases with 11 centuries only behind Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli is the first batsman to make five successive scores of 50 or more in ODIs on two separate occasions.[5]
