The Other Side Of Amitabh Bachchan

Well I don’t know how many of you are aware of these facts or let me say the Other side of Amitabh Bachchan.

zanjeer

Amitabh Bachchan had given 12 consecutive flops before Zanjeer.

Sunil Dutt signed him for a mute’s role in Reshma Aur Shera because of a letter of introduction from then PM Indira Gandhi to friend Nargis.

Kalyanji-Anandji helped him in his struggling days and even introduced him to Prakash Mehra

Comedian Mehmood was also a mentor to Mr Bachchan in his days of struggle and offered him place to stay in his own home.

Kader Khan - Former Mentor and dialogue writer of many films starring AmitabhWr1a5FZk5hE

Bachchan lashes out at Amitabh Bachchan in an interview. “Kader Khan told that Amitabh Bachchan discouraged him to join politics, while he himself became M.P. He said that Amitabh told me, ‘if people will approach you for politics, then I would tell them that you are not the right person, I would discourage them to vote for you, I will ensure that you don’t win’. Kader Khan, who wrote dialogues for Amitabh’s hit films like Satte Pe Satta, Naseeb, Muqadder Ka Sikander, says that Amitabh was ruined by politics. Kader Khan further added ‘My relationship with Amitabh got ruined after he became MP.

Tabassum Interview on Dilip, Raj Kapoor, Nargis, Madhubala and Amitabh

Chat masala

Her childhood was truly golden having shared the screen with stalwarts like Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor and Nargis. The song Bachpan ke din bhoola na dena (Deedar, 1952) filmed on her remains a reminder of the era when as Baby Tabassum she reigned the marquee. While the industry is celebrating its centenary, the actor is proud to have spent 65 years in it. Tabassum, true to her name, continues to spread smiles across the miles.

In her own words:

“Zindagi ko samjho to khushiyan, warna gham ka dariya hai,
Sukh or dukh kuch bhi nahin, apna apna nazariya hai.”

Dilip Kumar

I worked in Kidar Sharma’s Jogan (1950) with Nargis apa and Dilip bhaiyya (Kumar). At first I used to call him Dilip uncle. Later, he too became ‘bhaiyya’. I remember we were once shooting at Apte river in Maharashtra. Dilip bhaiyya always had a lock of hair falling on his forehead. He didn’t like anyone touching his hair. So Kedarji asked me to push it back. And I did it saying, “Babuji balon ka style theek karlo or else the boys in the streets will begin imitating you!”. As a child I couldn’t pronounce ‘r’. So when Kedarji would ask me to say, ‘Om Prabhu Shanti’ I’d say, ‘Om Palbhu Shanti’.

Blast from the Past: The Terrible Truths about the Thespian Dilip Kumar

Check out this 1982 Stardust article about Dilip Kumar.

Even though the whole country was disillusioned, seething with fury and utterly disgusted when their darling Dilip Kumar deceived them about his second marriage, it wasn’t long before people forgave, forgot and started making excuses for their idol. Within a couple of months, Dilip Kumar was back on his pedestal. The public had literally grown up believing in his legend, fans had lived with stories of his greatness for too long to accept his feet of clay because of just one mistake.

Now however, it’s come to light that Asma was not the legend’s first mistake. It was only the first to be exposed! The expose, however belated, seems to have aroused the other ‘wronged parties’ who have kept quiet about their suffering all these years, out of fear for themselves and their families. Today, there’s no end to the stories shattering the white-washed façade, no restraint in the explosion of the myth of the ex-Sheriff, the actor nonpareil, the perfect family man, the legendary lover, the Godfather of the industry. One (exposed) slip-up has cost the fallen angel his thirty-year-old image!

So far, the only well-known negative aspect of this Marlon Brando of the Indian screen was that he had the habit of interfering with his scripts, directing his directors and delaying his films.
