3G Movie Review by Taran Adarsh

2

Technology is a boon… but it can be a bane too. And you realize this as the reels of 3G, a psychological thriller, unfolds. Coincidentally, in AA DEKHEN ZARA [2009], produced by the same production house that produces 3G, which starred Neil Nitin Mukesh and was penned by Shantanu and Sheershak [who turn directors with 3G], the on-screen characters could peep into the future with the help of a camera. This time, in 3G, the incessant phone calls scare the daylights of the lead pair.

In the mood for chills and thrills? Let’s explore… Several storytellers in Hollywood have attempted technology-based movies. These films veer into bizarre and wacky territories and appear fascinating for movie-watchers who love out of the box experiences. 3G is a novel experience in the sense that the director duo use cell phone as a gadget to instill fear and terror, but the screenwriting is so botched up that instead of transforming into a nail-biting experience, the film nosedives into clichés and never-ending occurrences, so much so that you can’t help but feel that the potential was squandered by inept writing.

It’s said that every minute, thousands of ‘Phantom Calls’ are received worldwide. These calls have no known source of origin, no numbers and cannot be traced.

Sonal Chauhan angry with Neil Nitin Mukesh’s claims

Sonal Chauhan angry with Neil Nitin Mukesh’s claims

Neil Nitin Mukesh has been on a promotional overdrive. And he is not talking about his films this time, but his so-called relationship with Sonal Chauhan. In fact, in a recent interview, the actor waxed eloquent about being in love with Sonal and claimed that she has met his parents and that a wedding is on the cards.

Rather than be pleased with the confessions, his ‘girlfriend’ is furious. Speaking about her harrowing experience ever since the interview was published, Sonal said she woke up to a barrage of missed calls and messages from her family and friends. Most importantly, her parents were aghast at the news. “They were very disturbed and asked me to explain. If I was in a relationship with anybody, I would definitely not hide it, at least not from them,” she said.

Sonal denied having met Neil’s parents saying, “Please, I haven’t met them.” Asked about Neil’s statements that she helped him come out from his shell after his last relationship (with Asin Thottumkal) and healed him, she shot back, “Gosh! He hasn’t even spoken about his previous relationship with me.”

Sonal, who has signed a two-film deal with Eros International, said: “I am fond of Neil as a person.

‘‘Taking her name is a sin’’ – Neil Nitin Mukesh

Q. What’s happening in your life right now?
A Life is awesome. I’m busy with work and my hobbies. I’m hunting for good work too.

Q. And what about love?
A Well, I’m not looking for love because I’ve learnt that love eventually finds you. I like someone a lot right now, let’s see what happens.

Q. Would you like to share something about her?
A Well, I was in a long term relationship earlier. But the girl and her family were dishonest. They were ‘cheaters’. I am simple and an open book. I don’t like ambitious and materialistic people. The girl, whom I like now is not ambitious and is genuine. And if we ever get into a relationship, she wouldn’t hide it like the earlier one did. The previous one even said, ‘I’ve met Neil only twice in my life’! She is a closed chapter and not worth a mention. Taking her name is a sin. (Pauses) But I hope this girl I’ve recently met eventually says yes to me. Right now, we are good friends. (Smiles) We both want to make sure it’s worth it.

Q. Who is this mystery girl?
A I guess by now all of you know who she is.
