I Like the VERSATILITY of SRK and Hrithik

SRK with Hrithik Roshan

Shah Rukh Khan has been in the industry for more than 20 years now and he has been giving HITs throughout his career. Most of his Hits is in Romantic genre and So media has tagged him the ‘King of Romance’. This has made many people believe that he is just keep on doing romantic movies which is far from truth. I am covering basically two points i.e. Versatility in choosing the type of movies and Versatility in acting. I am assuming that we know the meaning of versatility so that when I mention about the movies like Ra.One, Ashoka and Paheli you will not have any chance to say that they were Flops.

Versatility in choosing movies
I feel, among the present lot, SRK is the most versatile actor when it comes to choosing movies in different genres. He has done the role of a romantic hero who lures his heroines by his charm to a wicked man who can do anything for revenge of his father’s death. A mentally challenged man to a Superhero. Just look at his filmography and you can see the Diversity. Short film with Arundhati, KHKN, DDLJ, Baazigar, Dil se, PBDHH, Pardes, Hey Raam, Ashoka, Swades, Koyla, Baadshah, MNIK, OSO, CDI, Don, Ra.one.

Evening of Newcomers

SRK was charm personified at the event

Pooja Bhatt may have been missing at a preview screening of her film Jism 2 at a distant suburban theatre, but guests who’d been invited were pleasantly surprised to run into her pretty half-sister Alia. Daughter of Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan, petite young Alia will make her acting debut in October as the female lead in Karan Johar’s campus musical Student of the Year, opposite fellow newcomers Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan.

Alia’s date for the screening was her co-star Varun, who she is reportedly seeing. The good-looking fellow is director David Dhawan’s younger son, who has previously worked as an assistant director to Johar on My Name Is Khan, along with Sidharth. Varun and Alia, who were trying hard not to draw too much attention to themselves, were joined by Wake Up Sid director Ayan Mukherjee. Currently on a short break from shooting his new film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani with lovers-turned-foes-turned-friends Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, Ayan cheerfully revealed he was catching up on films he’d missed out on recently, and new ones he was looking forward to.

Calling a Truce

When Shah Rukh Khan turned up recently at an event to release a new poster of Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi (on the invitation of Farah Khan, who stars in the film with Boman Irani), he had to know he was likely to run into his Devdas director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who produced Shirin Farhad.

I just got lucky, says SRK on 20 years in B-Town

On this day two decades ago a new Hindi film superstar emerged: Bollwood’s all-time favourite romantic hero Shah Rukh Khan, who debuted with Deewana. On completing 20 years, SRK says he just “got lucky” and admits he has made mistakes all along.

Shah Rukh who entered filmdom with Deewana, which released June 25, 1992, tweeted,

Superstardom, disappointment and controversies – Delhi guy SRK has seen it all in his celebrityhood.

For Shah Rukh, it’s been two decades in Bollywood, but his tryst with showbiz began in 1988, the year he started his journey with TV series Fauji, after being trained at The Barry John’s Acting Studio. Next year he featured in another successful show Circus and Doosra Keval.

People loved his act on small screen, he won hearts as a crazy lover in Deewana, in which he was competing with none other than Rishi Kapoor in the lead role. But lady luck was smiling on him and audiences loved his chemistry with late Divya Bharti. The song Aisi deewangi dekhi nahin kabhi picturised on them became a chartbuster.

Deewana turned out to be a huge hit at the box office, and won SRK a Filmfare best male debut award.

There was no looking back thereafter – only more films, more hits, and more awards for Shah Rukh.

The Slutty Savitri of Bollywood : Deepika Padukone

It is said that Marathi born women can never be actresses because they look like kaam waali bais (exception madhuri dixit). Deepika Padukone has all the qualities of a typical Maharashtrian girl. She is not fair, has a Harsha Bhogle-ish smile and has Baba Ambedkar-accent. To top it all, she is awkwardly tall and has a pencil like monotonous figure. U cannot make a difference between her waist and boobs. Both are of the same size.It doesn’t help that she is a non-actor. In her first film, Farah khan used her intelligently as she dubbed her voice, that took the Baba Ambedkar angle away. She wore Indian outfits for major part of the film because Farah knew she has figure of a typical Maharashtrian man.

But she was exposed in her second film itself in BAH. Then came CCTC where she was aweful as the Chinese sister. She realised that her OSO bubble had burst and her non-act is out in the open. She realised that her contemporaries are doing much better and they can act better too.So since 2009,she remodelled her career what she perceives as the modern girl – the “Chaddi phenomena”. She thought- ‘ what I lack in talent, I will make up for it by wearing shorter Chaddis in my films.

SRK is like a real Pathan: Shyam Kaushal

SRK is like a real Pathan: Shyam Kaushal

I have done many action sequences in my career. My toughest however, has to be the fire sequence in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om. As an action director, the risk factor is always high. But this topped it all. We had to shoot indoors. And the escape routes weren’t many. There were three cameras, seven people from my team, the light men and the actors. Plus there was this big fire.

It was shot in Film City. The scene was an integral part of the screenplay and we shot it on the same set even after it got burnt once. We had to keep the fire under control. The lives of so many on the sets depended on me. We had hired a safety team also. One small mistake and the results could have been disastrous. When I was a stuntman, I didn’t think so much. But as an action director, my role had changed. People trusted me. And I had to achieve that.

I had organised two teams – one to light the fire and the other to put it off. But it was keeping the fire under control that was the toughest bit. All the curtains would catch fire.

John Abraham to join SRK – Farah Khan reunion movie?

In Bollywood the show must go on and no one seems to understand it better than King Khan himself. The scuffle between Shah Rukh and Farah Khan’s husband that made headlines sometime ago is all in the past now.

The king Khan has reunited with his closest buddy, Farah Khan and Red Chillies Entertainment’s stalled project Happy New Year is back on track. Directed by Farah Khan this movie has Shah Rukh Khan playing the lead. And now, the happy reunion of the two got even better as Hindustan Times reported that John Abraham is also on board on the project and is likely to play a meaty role in the film.

A source told the newspaper that “Farah has promised John a major part in her film. The two share a Parsi connection, and Farah is known to be very fond of him.”

This will be Shah Rukh’s first film with John Abraham. The two had previously together for a soft drink commercial.

Happy New Year was initially scheduled to release immediately after Om Shanti Om and Amitabh had a major role to play as well. The female leads were likely to be played by Katrina Kaif or Kareena Kapoor.

Two to tango

Music keeps pace with us and we are the agents of change, say dynamic composers Vishal-Shekhar on their journey so far.

Two people say practically the same words, think similarly and plan things alike, yet they are not related. Music directors Vishal and Shekhar feel that being in sync has helped them nurture their 15-year personal and professional bond. While they are among the best entertainers on stage, they are mavericks when it comes to composing songs.

A journey that began 12 years ago has seen them through “Jhankar Beats”, “Dus”, “Salaam Namaste”, “Bluffmaster”, “Om Shanti Om”, “Bachna Ae Haseeno”, “I Hate Luv Stories”, “RA One” and “The Dirty Picture”. Excerpts from an interview with the dynamic duo:

Your journey so far

Vishal: It’s a long but fun journey that began 12 years ago. We started as independent filmmakers and then collaborated for “Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi”. The rest is history.

Shekhar: I am from a business family; my dad’s hobby was listening to music. As a family we would sit together and sing old songs. This developed my love for music.

I learnt classical music and learnt to play the piano. I met Vishal outside a studio; we were composing different tracks for the same film.
