Aurangzeb Boxoffice Collections Thread
Aurangzeb Has Poor Opening At Multiplexes
Aurangzeb had a poor 15-20% opening at multiplexes. The film should open better at single screens due to the action but the opening numbers at multiplexes are low.
As has been seen with a many small-medium films this year a couple of good shows in the evening at multiplexes makes a likely poor total into a decent one.
It will be the same for Aurungzeb where multiplex collections will have to be better in the evening as even though single screens may do better but they won’t be high enough to take the film through alone.
The other release I Don’t Luv You opened to a dull 0-2% response,

Go Goa Gone Boxoffice Collections Thread
Go Goa Gone Opens Below The Mark
Go Goa Gone had an average opening of around 25% at multiplexes as metros opened at 30% and other major centres at 20%. Single screen opening will be much lower. The film is mainly catering to premium multiplexes and these tend to do better in the evenings.
The business of film will be mainly restricted to cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Bangalore while not much can be expected from other cities. The film will find it very difficult to collected in UP, CPCI Rajasthan etc with even the premium properties in these areas finding it tough.
The key will be how the premium properties go in the evening. The other release Gippi is a film totally dependent on word of mouth and as expected has started with low figures.

Predictions of Forthcoming films
SHOOTOUT AT WADALA: The film has got the buzz and the item songs have ensured that the hoi-polloi flocks to theater. The film can have around 9-10cr Day 1 and 30-32cr weekend which will be healthy enough. If accepted well, the film can have a very strong run as there is no hard-core Mass film releasing for next five weeks until YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA. Lifetime Predictions
Day 1- 9-10cr
Weekend- 30-32cr
Lifetime-
If Good WOM: 80-85
If Mixed WOM: 67-72
If Bad WOM: 55-59cr
GO GOA GONE: The film has perfect recipe for youth crowd of multiplexes. It has something new in its kitty which hasn’t been exploited in Indian cinema before. But after the first promo, the film didn’t come up with anything exciting, thanks to non-pleasing songs! Still, the film can have a decent start multiplexes thanks to Saif Ali Khan’s presence and the novelty factor.
Day 1- 4-5cr
Weekend – 15-17cr
Lifetime-
If Good WOM: 44-48cr
If Mixed WOM: 37-40cr
If Bad WOM: 29-33
AURANGZEB: Shockingly disinteresting, Aurangzeb can be a debacle in terms of opening if the film doesn’t come out with eye-catching promos and songs! Nothing so far has clicked for the film and its just two weeks away from the release!

Shootout At Wadala Has Good Opening Bombay Talkies Is Poor
Friday 3rd May 2013 11.30 IST
Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network
Shootout At Wadala had a good opening at most places with collections around the 65% mark on average. The film opened better in places like CP Berar, Maharashtra and Nizam probably due to action and due to the fact gangster films have a larger audience for these films. The opening in the North was also pretty good taking into account it is more of a Mumbai circuit film.
The film should notch up healthy first day collections despite it not having a big star although there are plenty of known faces in the film but non of these are crowd pullers. The film has been released on around 2500 screens across India making it third biggest release of 2013 after Himmatwala and Race 2 but both those films went to to 3000 plus.
Bombay Talkies opened to a poor 15-20% response and this also only came as the film is restricted to a limited release with just 3-4 shows at the better multiplexes of major cities. The film will have low collections as opening is low and screenings are limited.
Chhota Bheem And The Throne Of Bali also opened poorly but being a film for children it is more about Saturday and Sunday business.

Ek Thi Daayan – Box Office Thread
Ek Thi Daayan had an average opening of around 30-40%. The opening was better than last week’s two releases Nautanki Saala and Commando (only at multiplexes, not single screens) but lower than Chasme Baddoor released a couple of weeks back.
The opening is not upto the mark for an Emraan Hashmi starrer but that is probably due to the fact that the promos did not show that it was a usual Emraan Hashmi film or an out and out horror film which would have added hugely to opening.
The film is pretty safe as far as recovery is concerned due to low costs but theatrically it will depend on what happens on Saturday at multiplexes as it will find it tough going at single screens.

Himmatwala Boxoffice Collections Thread
Himmatwala Opens Well
Himmatwala opened well in the range of 50-55% on average with collections being best in UP, Bihar and Rajasthan while West bengal and Mysore were low. The collections in metros like Delhi and Kolkata were below the mark. Mumbai city was also low but that is the case with most films as films are released on too many screens but Maharashtra was much better.
The film has a very wide release especially in terms of single screens which should help the film to collect. If the multiplexes in big cities improve over the day the film will put up a good first day number.
The way the film has started it is certain that business in single screens will be much better than multiplexes with the growth on Saturday at multiplexes being a must for long term multiplex business.

Kai Po Che Decent Opening Zilla Ghaziabad Dull Opening
Friday 22nd February 2013 12.30 IST
Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network
Koi Po Che had a decent opening of around 40-45% while Zilla Ghaziabad was dull across the board with around 20% Kai Po Che was helped by good collections in the premium multiplex areas of Mumbai, Pune and Delhi NCR though some other parts of the country like UP and Punjab were low. The film had no face value but the promotion created awareness especially in the big cities where collections are much better.
Zilla Ghaziabad was dull in the morning and stands no chance at the box office as a film like Kai Po Che can improve as the day goes along but Zilla Ghaziabad being an action film has limited upside.
Both films have Hollywood release A Good Day To Die Hard for competition which also did not open well apart from a few centres in East Punjab where there is the novelty of the film being dubbed in Punjabi for the first time.

Box Office Predictions of MURDER 3
After the super success of MURDER 2 back in July 2011, this franchise hits theater on 15th February 2013, directed by debutant Vishesh Bhatt and fresh casting of Randeep Hooda, Sara Loren and Aditi Rao Hyadari. Unlike the last installment, this film has not really generated any sort of buzz.

Weekend 1- 17.5cr
Week 1- 27.5cr

ABCD Opens Better Than Special Chabbis
Friday 8th February 2013 10.30 IST
Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network
ABCD opened better than Special Chabbis all across India. The opening at places was much stronger despite Special Chabbis having star value in the form of Akshay Kumar although the film is not really the type expected from mass star like Akshay Kumar. On average the collections of Special Chabbis were around 30% while ABCD opened at around 60%. ABCD had no star cast but nut the youth across India has come for it in a big way.
ABCD is 3-D film which would have helped the film in terms of initial collections. Special Chabbis may pick up as the day goes along as its not an initial film. Normally these types have better collections after 6pm. It will be interesting to see which film comes out on top at the end of the day but it seems that ABCD will have the edge on day one at least.
