Magadheera vs Gadar : which is more WTF?

Presenting two OTT action scenes from two of the biggest blockbusters in Indian Cinema. What is your pick?

1) Magadheera:

It is amusing how the other fighters watch the hero beating each dude one by one!

2) Gadar:

A dude is uarmed (except for the handpump!) and he beats the crap out of whole pak public, many of whom are armed! It happens only in Indian cinema!

Hilarious Scene from Kites

During Kites, Hrithik used to argue that it was a tragic film and hence it didn’t work. However I felt I never realised Hrithik’s comic timing better than in Kites especially from 7:58 to 8:40 in the scene I posted. The moment bullet hits Hrithik, he suddenly becomes more nasal than Himesh Reshammiya. It is amazing that he is just hit by the bullet but he refuses to drop the fake accent. “Drive the car Lindaaaaa,,I am okkkkkk” and i thought he had left MPKDH behind him. While this is going on, we hear the hollywood sensation (Barbara Mori, who looked like a MILF in the film) speaking dialogues like “please don’t go, we need to make babies ,remember?” rofl

There is another scene where Hrithik is cheering up Barbara, he says “You had a dream, I had a dream, now we have a bigger dream”. Then in that kiss scene , “If you dont like my kiss, then give it back to me”. I think even my 7 year old cousin will write a lesser dumb dialogue than that. All this in the name of international crossover cinema.

Makers said Kites is a love story. Well,Kites is not a symbol of love.

Collection of cult dialogues : Veergati

If there is one film that can challenge Sholays cult dialogues, then Veergati is the one that comes to my mind.Salman Khans little talked about gem of 1995 is my most favourite salman film.Yes it was inspired by Nana Patekars krantiveer a lot in both characterisation of the lead as well as the basic premise to some extent. While Krantiveer was made in response to Mumbai riots in 1992,Veergati was more like a follow up to Krantiveer. In Karan Arjun also Salman played a similar character where he overshadowed srk.

Below are some of my favourite dialogues in the film:

1) (Salman is accused of attempting murder)

“Dafa 302 likh ke takhti ko hare ped pe taang do to woh bhi sookh jaata hai”

2) (Salman’s response to Inspector who tries to sympathise with Constable’s son)

“Naam Neelkanth….lekin tumne woh zehere nahi piya jo mere rag rag mein hai.Philhaal yahi kaafi hai ki main hawaldaaar ka beta nahi”

Housefull 2 has the 17th biggest day ever on the 3rd last friday from 15.5 days after release : BOI

Saturday 21st April 2012 11.30 IST
Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Housefull 2 has the 17th biggest day collection of all time on the 3rd last friday from 15 and half days since the release of the film as it collects around 0.15 crore nett. The only films in the history of Hindi cinema which have collected more than Housefull 2 on this occasion are :

Three Idiots ,Dabangg,Bodyguard,Agneepath,Ready,Ra.one,Don2,Golmaal3,Ghajini,Rajneeti,znmd,singham,rnbdj,wanted,MNIK and Housefull 1.

It beats the likes of Action Replayy,Tees maar khan, Desi boys, De dana dan, Khatta meetha, CCTC,blue which were in between the 0.01-0.0075 crore nett region.

Housefull 2 collected around 0.02 crore nett in in East Punjab inspite of a state holiday. The major revenue-spewing circuits like CPCI and Rajasthan belt was also super strong. Collections in South and West Bengal have come down more but that is because there were no state holidays in those places and also were steady compared to Thursday.

Hits and Misses of the First Quarter of 2012: BollywoodHungama

bh

March ending is the favourite buzz word of people from the world of finance as it marks the end of the financial year. However, for us B-town folks, the last date of March marks the end of the first quarter of watching films released in the new year. The last 3 months have been a mixed bag for Bollywood with some films striking gold at the B.O. while others falling like a pack of cards. Bollywood Hungama’s Nikhil Ramsubramaniam gives a brief snapshot at the Hits and Misses of the first quarter of 2012. Read on…

HITS

Agneepath

Karan Johar took the risk of remaking his father’s cult classic Agneepath and even had the guts to hand over the directorial reins to a debutant director Karan Malhotra but boy did he deliver. The film saw some power-packed performances from Hrithik Roshan as Vijay Dinanath Chauhan and Sanjay Dutt as the evil Kancha Cheena. But the real surprise was Rishi Kapoor as Rauf Lala playing the meanest character he has ever portrayed. This one was a blockbuster from the word go and ‘Chikni Chameli’ rage only added to the collections even more.

Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu

Dharma Productions’ struck gold once again when young debutant director Shakun Batra managed to make an unconventional yet feel-good love story in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.

Srk’s Cultural significance : Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke – Tera Naam Lene Ki

I had somehow missed this gem of a song from srk.A copied romantic track from Hum Tumhaare hai sanam (which is a cult classic in its own right ;-) )which in normal circumstances would have been shot with the lead pair srk and raveena. The director thought of going the non-commercial way and decided to show us the puppy love of srk-raveena as kids. Now it would have been fine except that the kid is using Kumar Sanus voiceover and the video looks like a soft child porn!may be the director wanted us to show how srk’s romantic films had social impact on the young generation at that time.We are aware of species of srk fan who have seen cheesefests like DTPH 75 times and those who think DDLJ is cult romantic cinema.srk had converted a lot of potentially worthy citizens such majnus in their teens itself.Nowadays they are busy writing reflections on banned forums.Have a look at the song though.

Veergati Salman Khan Best Fight Scene Ever

Veergati is one of the lesser known gem of a film in Salman Khan’s career. It could be called Salman’s Agneepath so to speak! Some really witty dialogue writing and excellent characterization of each cast. To many, this is Salman’s best performance by a mile. Sadly the film did not get the BO success it deserved mostly due to low promotion and small names associated with the film. It is true that it was inspired somewhat from the hugely successful Krantiveer which came an year earlier. But Veergati has much merit of its own. If you don’t believe me, watch it for yourself. If released today, it can do 100 cr in one week itself!

Here I am presenting the intro scene of Salman in the film.

Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi – Akshay at his best!

There is a Mohra, a Khiladi, Khakee and for some even Tashan but for me , Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi remains Akshay Kumar’s best film as a star-actor. KKK is the film where Akshay has that Tony Jaa-like moments where the hero’s action skills rise above the script. In fact such films are tailor-made to show-off the skills of the lead actor. No doubt,The film was a superhit at the box-office. Akshay I always believe is more of a “physical actor”. In those days in the 90s when crap used to be shown in the name of action, Akshay brought a very refreshing and realistic style. His spinning back kicks and cat leaps were noticeable in many of his early films and got lapped up by the audiences who had good taste in action, making him famous as the Khiladi of Bollywood.

Too bad he got stuck up with comedy later and is now struggling in the genre. But all is not lost, Rowdy Rathore is coming soon and reports say that Akshay took some Combat Karate training for it. CCTC was a bad lost opportunity.Hopefully RR will do justice to his talent.

Two of my favourite scenes from the film:

SRK-KATRINA FILM TITLED ‘LONDON ISHQ’

Yash Chopra is currently directing this year’s most anticipated film in London with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif.

The film which was called ‘Production 45’ by Yash Raj Films has finally been titled.

BollyNews UK has learnt that Yash Raj Films has chosen ‘London Ishq’ as the title of the film. Reportedly, the production house decided on the title from three choices. The title ‘Hum London Mein Mile’ was also considered for the film.

It can be noted here that Preity Zinta’s comeback film which she is currently shooting in France has a similar title; ‘Ishqk in Paris’.

Shah Rukh and Katrina have been filming different song sequences with choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant for the last two weeks here in the capital. An A.R Rahman track that is being shot at an undisclosed location in Central London for the last three days is reportedly a club song.

Most stupid scene of Guru

I think much before Raavan, the acclaimed director Mani Ratnam had crossed all limits of ridiculousness in the climax of Guru.Check this scene and just think how stupid could the writer think the audience are!

Guru is saying dont charge me excise duty, custom duty bcos i hv majority of indians as my companys shareholders.and he is actually defending his act of crime.and by looting the government by avioiding taxes,he is indirectly causing more trouble to economy. and then he says he values “money” lol

He says govt has problem wiht his growth, dude govt doesnt hv problem with ur growth but with ur criminal acitivyt of avioding taxation n bribery and finally mani ratnam should be ashamed of using mahatma gandhi as reference to make guru look rebel. How on earth can a freedom fight be equal to avoiding of taxes and bribery!

Kader Khan turns educationist

As an entertainment reporter in the 1990s, travelling to Hyderabad to cover the shooting of a Govinda film was as common as travelling from Bandra to Churchgate.

More often than not it would be for one of the No.1 films (Hero, Coolie, Anari) and another fixture on the sets would be Kader Khan, who would be there as a co-actor and dialogue writer.

We didn’t realise it then, but the combination was writing film history as they ad-libbed and smart-assed their way to creating a whole new genre that is still known as the Govinda genre.

Dialogue from those films is still repeated and everyone who has cracked up at them has a favourite.

All this is in my mind as I go to meet Kader Khan (65), who hasn’t been seen in the movies for some time having seemingly passed his sell-by date as have so many wonderful entertainers of that decade. I couldn’t be more wrong.

Kader Khan is neither down, nor out. He has just seamlessly progressed to the next phase of his life with the very ambitious project of creating an entire syllabus from nursery to post graduation in Islamic studies which will be taught in Madrasas.

PR jugglery of Talaash

The first news for Talaash was about Reliance having acquired the film from Excel-Aamir (the producers) for Rs 90cr

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/bollywood/news-interviews/Aamir-Khan-scores-Rs-90-crore-deal/articleshow/11696477.cms

This news was mainly to heat up the film among trade.

The next news item came after the promo was launched. This time the PR quoted ‘budget’ figures of 40 cr instead of selling price(90 cr).

http://www.hindustantimes.com/Entertainment/Bollywood/Aamir-Khan-starrer-Talaash-s-1st-teaser-out/Article1-802823.aspx

The latest news item is funnier. This time they talked about how they have not sold the movie to (sub)distributors. The mistake on their part is that they gave quote of Reliance!

http://www.boxofficeindia.co.in/no-talaash-for-distributors/

So as things stand,Talaash which was made on a production budget of 40 cr was sold to Reliance at 90cr.Reliance however has not sold the rights to sub distributors and are waiting till the release period gets near.
